On July 18th, 1936, Paul-Louis Guignard took 185 stopwatches to Berlin with his trunk. He got on his train from Basel and arrived in Berlin – the captain of German Empire. In this Olympic track and field items, each race track also set a starting gun to trigger the chronometer. And timekeeper stood at the end of the race track. They would push electric button when the athletes breast the tape. However, it still adopted traditional stopwatches. For each competition, the top three athletes had three stopwatches and three referees at the end of the race track for each. The fourth to the sixth athletes, they had one stopwatch and one referee at the end of the race track, too. The organizing committee was very satisfied with the performance of the Omega stopwatch. The secretary general – Carl Diem claimed in his letter to Omega that all the competition items adopted these stopwatches, all the international sporting unions were all very satisfied with their performance. We didn’t receive any complaint which could indicate Omega stopwatch’s excellent performance. So Omega Company obtained a huge success in this international sporting event. |
